We are looking for a field research assistant to work with us in Kangiqsujuaq to collect data relating to Inuit well-being and experiences of stress. FRESH Member Manvir SINGH is hiring a post-doc to study explanations of and interventions to deal with misfortune among the Mentawai (potential topics include shamanism, healing ceremonies, beliefs in spirits, beliefs in witchcraft, and local models of illness). It’s a two-year position based at UC Davis, and the ideal candidate would have fieldwork experience, a background in quantitive and qualitative data collection, and a willingness to learn foreign languages (Indonesian and/or Mentawai). The start date is flexible, although spring or summer of this year is preferred. Applications will be reviewed starting March 1 and will continue to be accepted until the position is filled.
